Thought I'd drop by and contribute.

I, like you, have been racking my brain trying to figure out what this mystery flower is. I have searched, and searched, fruitlessly (no pun intended) ... and also like you, mistakenly assumed that it might be a "bog orchid."

But alas, I finally stuck gold, after a very tedious search ... and finally managed to identify this plant. Lo and behold, although I can see how it may be misidentified as some similar-looking plants, but indeed, it is not an "orange-crested bog orchid."

This is a plant belonging to the Genus: Bulbine.

And, the Secies in particular (according to your photo above) is known as: Bulbine frutescens (B. frutescens, in shorthand botanical classification).

Hence, I thought I'd return back to where I first passed through your page, along my extensive and exhaustive search, and share the spoils of finally hitting pay dirt, and making a positive match.

Thanks.
